A bit more about me
By coaching my clients to feel sexy at every size wearing lingerie, bathing suits, shorts and sleeveless tops to holding a safe space for one or a group of many, I am all about teaching women how to be more kick-butt confident at every stage.
As a curvy and confident plus size woman, I wrote my book, “Lovin’ the Skin You’re In” to teach full-figured women how to step into a place of power in their lives. I’m very proud to be a contributing author and have my story “Beauty At Every Size” published in Chicken Soup for the Soul’s book, “Curvy & Confident: 101 Ways to Love Yourself and Your Body.”
In 2005 I created my Losing Weight Without Dieting program for women to teach them how to master food. As a sexual abuse survivor, I have an intimate knowledge of the unique challenges women after abuse face around food, our bodies and feeling safe. These challenges open the door to behaviors like people-pleasing, procrastination, inability to set boundaries and feeling uncomfortable being more assertive.
In August of 2007 I shared my story with First for Women magazine. I told them my decision to stop dieting was a pivotal point in my life that restored my marriage because I stopped being obsessed about my weight long enough to realize that I was unconsciously pushing my husband out the front door.
Depression pushed me to get healthy and lose 20 pounds
Depression and weight gain was my wake up call gift that forced me to get really serious about my health. It pushed me to take a hard look at all the behaviors that were sabotaging my health. Over the past 8 months I’ve lost nearly 20 pounds eating all the foods I love. Best yet, all my tastes have changed.
Now that I’ve made self-care and stress-relief my biggest priority, it’s so easy for me to pass up or limit my old junk food favorites because I have them here in the house.
