Ever since I was a girl, I loved playing dress up. I truly relish being a gal. It’s fun to be able to enjoy lovely clothes, put on makeup and reinvent myself all the time. That’s why one of my favorite shows is “America’s Next Top Model.”

Recently I heard in the news that Tyra Banks, the host of the show, and a Nationally Famous Supermodel was being harassed because she had gained weight. Many people were questioning her ability to lead the show. She was even being pressured to leave her show, “

Unwilling to take this lying down, the confident woman retorted, “You have to be thin to be a model-I don’t have to live up to that model standard anymore.” If I had lower self esteem, I would probably be starving myself right now.”

You go girl. Rock on!

She’s right. The core of the problem lies in the way that we see ourselves. So much of who we are reflects in the way that we think about food and how we feel about our body. I’m sure most people would agree, that whatever her weight, Tyra is a gorgeous woman and her statement reflects that she also believes that. Bravo Tyra!

I was taught that beauty is found within. I think it’s a crime that women are judged as less than they deserve because they are overweight. Sadly so many women don’t think that they are beautiful, especially when they are carrying excess weight. Society pressures women to fit into a box and look a certain way. We’re not Barbie Dolls!

I’m outraged at this display of ignorance! So many people think that a woman’s value is limited to her appearance. That is a crying shame.

That stinking thinking is most likely the reason behind so many women struggling with diets today desperate to come to peace with themselves and their bodies. The problem is that the road to weight loss through dieting often leads them astray.

Diets just don’t fix the fat that is in our heads due to low self esteem. That’s why food is like an addiction to so many women. Its comforting promise of instant gratification and love seduces even the most dedicated dieter to sabotage her efforts.

Diets really go against the grain of our needs. We need to eat food to survive. We want to eat things that taste good and we want to be able to trust our bodies.

If you’ve been dieting for years and find that you’re actually heavier than when you ever started, then face it, dieting just doesn’t work for you. As a smart independent gal, your natural instinct to push against rules will cause you to rebel and refuse to be limited by the restrictive nature of any diet.

But there’s hope. As a Certified Energy Coach and Weight Loss Specialist, I can help you to learn how to get back in touch with your natural hunger and eat in response to it. That means that you can welcome all foods back into your home. How much fun would it be know that you can lose weight without dieting?

How about you? What do you think about that? Please share your comments and stories with me.
