Do you ever find yourself running to food during times of stress in an effort to make yourself feel better without ever noticing that you’re thinking about it. It probably seems like you can’t control yourself and there’s nothing you can do but to seek out the nearest bit of food and eat it. Here’s why:
Think about the beliefs that drive your thoughts like a setting on a thermostat. Unless you turn the dial, you will remain stuck in the same setting.
According to the teachings of Abraham as delivered (channeled by) through Esther Hicks, in the book, “Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires,” your beliefs are chronic vibrations. They keep you caught in a pattern of thinking that keeps you stuck in certain feelings.
Every thought you choose that is a vibrational match to putting yourself down and beating yourself up, fearing food and hating your body….feels bad when you think it. It feels like anger, frustration, jealousy, envy, resentment, blame, guilt, sadness or fear…those thoughts are not good for you and you know that is true by how they make you feel.
If you think negatively, you will end up feeling badly. This is because your body and mind are one. They are not separate—what you think, you will feel and what you feel, you will think.
Has this ever happened to you? You could be feeling great one minute and then decide to try on a pair of your judgment jeans to check and see if you’ve been losing weight and making progress getting thinner, then after not being able to get them up past your thighs, all of a sudden you feel fat as a house. That awareness can make you go from feeling great to gloomy in the blink of an eye.
Since you are always attracting things to you by virtue of your thoughts, when you think negatively, you will attract negative things. When you are negative, your point of attraction will be negative. You will be in resonance with a negative or low vibration.
In the same way that when you touch a hot stove it hurts, when you think a negative thought, it hurts.
You are the gatekeeper of your thoughts. Although you can’t choose your first thought, because it’s like a mental automatic knee jerk reaction to your unconscious programming, you can always decide where to go with the next.
My suggestion is to begin to slow down and pay attention to your thoughts. In the previous post, I asked you to keep a journal of what you eat and how you feel during the course of the week. Pay close attention to how you feel and what thoughts correspond with those upsetting feelings that often push your hungry buttons. Just notice that each time that you feel badly, there is a limiting thought behind that emotion.
