Connirae Andreas, well known therapist, trainer and co-developer of Neuro Linguistic Programming has graciously agreed to allow me to interview her tomorrow, Tuesday, February 27, 2007 to discuss her Naturally Slender Eating Strategy. Connirae has always been slender and realized back in 1979 that this was no genetic accident. She recognized that she actually had acquired a strategy that enabled her to maintain her natural slender body/mind connection. Over the next couple of weeks, I will be attempting to model her way of eating intuitively.
You can read her strategy in the book that she co-authored with her husband, Steve Andreas. The title of the book is, “Heart of the Mind: Engaging Your Inner Power To Change With Neuro Linguistic Programming.
Connirae tested her Naturally Slender Eating strategy out with a client who was more than 100 pounds overweight. Her name was Clara. When Connirae first began to work with Clara, she made a quick assessment and recognized that Clara’s eating strategy was very easy. Like many other people, Clara’s eating strategy was simply this:
See food – Eat food.
Connirae understood that was the cause that led Clara to be overweight.
I’ll just give you a quick tidbit before I meet with Connirae tomorrow. The difference between her strategy and dieting is that unlike diets, where the focus is solely on calorie restriction and eating lower fat foods, the Naturally Slender Eating Strategy focuses on tuning into what foods you want and paying attention to how they make your body feel over an extended period of time. There is no restriction. You eat what your body wants and learn to stop when it is satisfied. The key is in becoming more discriminating and learning what foods feel good to you and which make you feel icky. As you can probably tell, there’s more to Connirae’s strategy than just See food – Eat. For now, think about what you do. What strategy do you think you have around food? Is it See food – Eat food?
Can you relate? Do you automatically want to eat after you see food? Are you on a See Food Diet?
If you’re itchin’ to get back in control, I can give you the tools to get you on the road to losing weight without the pain and restriction of dieting.
Please share your comments and feedback with me. I’d love to hear what you think about this renegade idea of ditching the diets and eating the foods you love to lose weight without dieting.
