Did you know that role models are so important to your success? They inspire you to think out of the box, and say and do things that you feel are beyond your abilities.
One of my role models, Jessica Weiner, author, actionist and the Ambassador for Dove’s Self Esteem Fund and Tyra Bank’s chosen self esteem/body image expert, teaches me to believe that I can follow proudly in her footsteps in my work with empowering women and children.
Having a picture of Jess nearby, keeps me motivated to reach beyond my comfort zones. When I’m down it buoys up my confidence and keeps me connected to what’s important to me, helping other women and girls to love their bodies.
Recently I met Plus Size model, Olga Gonzalez-Ramos of Curvaciously Yours. She joins me in this fight against ‘society’ to expand our definition of beauty and to recognize and accept us big girls.
Olga has been modeling for over 10 years at a size 22/24.
In her words,
“Many warned me it would not work for me. I took that information and used it to my advantage. I am the biggest plus size fashion print model in the industry.”
“Don’t hate me because I am ‘FAT’ and ‘Beautiful’.
Kudos to this powerful, Latina spitfire for having the courage to go after her dream now. She decided that life was too short to wait until she became thin to start modeling.
Now I ask you, what kind of kick butt confidence do you figure it takes to get out there in the world and rock your body at a size 22/24? I think Olga is an outstanding role model and a wonderful example to all women. Don’t you agree?
