Do you ever sense that there’s a part of you that just wants to see you suffer, make you miserable? Does it sometimes feel like you are your own worst enemy? I’ll bet that there are some times when the voices inside your head pushed you to do things that you really didn’t want to do and then you blamed yourself and compounded the pain.
Maybe you’re a gal who sometimes eats when you aren’t hungry and for some reason just can’t stop eating even after you decided that you didn’t like the taste of the food. Have you ever felt like you were punishing yourself by taking huge chunks of food, stuffing them into your mouth and never really taking the time to swallow or taste?
I have!
Let me tell you a little bit more about those voices. They stem from your inner critic, and hearken back to the days of your childhood. That was when you were small and vulnerable and liable to believe anything the grownups told you to.
We all have parts of us that are in conflict with one another. They each represent memories from our life. These pent up emotions and images hold a certain amount of energy and control us in many ways. They can make us cry, scream or want to kick a door in. They can even make us vulnerable to diseases. These stuck feelings and bottled up emotions represent the aspects of our life that are still unresolved, those haunts and hurts from your past that are still in shards and pieces.
Maybe you’re still reeling from feeling betrayed by someone who you trusted or ‘mad as hell’ because a loved one died or perhaps you were badly disappointed and felt cheated. Perhaps as a child you were told over and over again that you were ‘just a waste of space and that noone would ever love you.’
All those events have left their mark on your heart and in your brain and have contaminated your thoughts, feelings and actions. You have been buying into them and thinking that you don’t deserve more.
They broadsided your life and affected you just like a car crash. Every time you pay attention to them, you feel their impact. That piercing, heart crushing pain as fresh as the day that you first experienced it. It hits you at 100 mph taking your breath away, leaving you vulnerable, shaky and scared.
Sad to say that some people never recover from the pain that these memories cause. That’s because they live in your subconscious mind, hold onto ever cell in your body and being and erupt when you least expect it. They have the control, not you. And they’ll continue to play in your head just like an old record until you can change the tune.
We carry these screeching memories with us every day and they affect us in ways that are often unrealized, cleverly hiding under the radar. This unresolved energy is carried in your body and can create pain, sadness, depression and all sorts of fears. Just like an innocent child’s fears of monsters in the closet, you feel unsafe but don’t know why. You may not even know why you are feeling the way that you do. It could even be just a general feeling of malaise.
If you’re ready to clean out your closet, give those monsters their walking papers and take control of your life, your body and your thoughts, then you need to free yourself from their grasp right quick.
