On a recent Sexy At Every Size call, Kate shared with the group that when she thought of her body, she said, “I’m just a fat cow.”
She was concerned that a guy she liked who she hadn’t yet met, was going to think of her as fat.
She said, “I don’t want him to think of me like a fat cow.”
I guided her through using a stress relief method called tapping and explained that by tapping while she thought about being a fat cow, she can transform the energy of the emotion of how she feels toward her stomach and turn that into another feeling that she would really love, something that would give her tremendous confidence and joy.
After we tapped for a few minutes, she had the realization, “I’m not a fat cow. That’s not who I am.”
I asked her if this fat cow energy had a message for her, what would it be? She said,
“That I survived cancer and I gave birth to 2 beautiful daughters and I should just be happy that I’m here to enjoy another day.”
Then I asked her what she wanted to do with this “fat cow” energy that was in her stomach, and she said, “I’d like to kick its ass across the street. That’s what I’d like to do.” After I guided her to stand up, and imagine herself wearing a metal-tipped boot, I walked her through standing up, and moving her foot back and making a swift kicking motion. After she did that, she laughed and I could hear the relief in her voice.
Soon you’ll be able to buy the audio. But believe me, Kate is not calling herself a fat cow anymore. She’s got her sassy back. By the end of the call, when I asked her, “What do you want this guy to know about you?” she said,
“I’m a survivor and I’m beautiful no matter what he thinks of me.”
So when you look in your mirror today, or step on your scale, or try on a pair of jeans that don’t fit, and you end up feeling all kinds of fat and ugly inside, I want you to remember that the problem is not your body. It’s the way that you’re thinking about your body. You have a choice and you don’t have to feel bad anymore.I’m here to help you.
